Many of our guests find us online when they were looking for a downtown Ottawa restaurant and we are happy they did.

Technically, the Black Thorn is not is located in downtown Ottawa, but rather, in the historic ByWard Market area, just a twenty minute walk from Downtown, but well worth the short trip!

Visitors to Ottawa’s many downtown attractions such as Bytown Museum, Parliament Building, and Parliament Hill, often take a short cab ride (or walk in the summer time) to the Black Thorn to experience great food in a fun, friendly atmosphere.

As you enter the historical Ottawa landmark, our host /hostess will offer you a choice; a seat at our bar, or in the dining room or the front or back patio. The decor is warm and the windows look out over our lovely courtyards. Whether you sit inside or outside, The Black Thorn will provide a comfortable upscale gastro pub feel. Try the chicken fritters to start and the Athens pizza with a Belgian Friuli beer. Our pizza are made with homemade sauce and crust are covered with your favorite delicious toppings. Or perhaps you want a glass of Pinot Noir with our famous “Mariposa Duck Breast’.
